What RetrofitReady is
RetrofitReady is a free information service. We help Irish homeowners understand what SEAI grants might be available for their home, estimate costs, and find contractors in their area.
We are not affiliated with SEAI or any government body. We are not a contractor. We do not carry out any building work. We do not process or approve grant applications.
Grant figures are indicative only
The grant amounts and cost estimates on this site are based on published SEAI rates and data from completed Irish projects. They are provided as a helpful starting point, not a guarantee.
Your actual grant depends on your specific property, the scheme you apply through, and the rates in effect when SEAI processes your application. Rates and eligibility criteria can change without notice.
Always verify current rates and your eligibility directly with SEAI at seai.ie or by calling 01 808 2100 before signing any contract or starting any work.
We don't verify contractors
RetrofitReady lists contractors for information purposes only. We do not employ, endorse or guarantee any contractor on this site.
We do not verify contractor quality, insurance, registration status or workmanship. Where we show an “SEAI Registered” badge, this means we have checked the registration number against the SEAI public register at the time of listing — but registration status can change, and our check does not cover work quality.
Some contractors pay a subscription for enhanced visibility. This does not indicate any recommendation from RetrofitReady.
Before hiring any contractor, you should independently verify their SEAI registration, check their insurance, ask for references from recent local jobs, and get at least three written quotes.
We are not liable for losses
We are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on information on this site. This includes losses from:
- Grant estimates that differ from actual SEAI decisions
- Cost projections that differ from actual contractor quotes
- The actions, work quality or conduct of any contractor listed on this site
- Changes in SEAI grant rates, eligibility criteria or schemes
- Any decision you make based on information provided here
We are not liable for the actions of any contractor listed on this site. Your contract is with the contractor, not with RetrofitReady.
Protecting yourself
We want you to make good decisions. Here are some practical tips:
- Never pay a large deposit before work begins — ask for stage payments
- Always get a written contract before paying anything
- If a contractor visited your home to sign the contract, you have 14 days to cancel under EU consumer law
- Check SEAI registration is current before signing — it can change
- Get at least three quotes and compare them carefully
- Confirm VAT treatment (retrofit works may qualify for 9% reduced rate)
If something goes wrong
If you have a problem with a contractor or a grant application:
- For grant or contractor complaints, contact SEAI directly at seai.ie
- For consumer disputes, contact the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission at ccpc.ie
- For construction disputes, contact CIRI at ciri.ie
- For small claims under €2,000, use the Small Claims Court at courts.ie

Landlords
Different rules and obligations apply to rental properties. Landlords should check BER requirements under current rental legislation and verify grant eligibility separately with SEAI. The Landlord Grant Scheme has different conditions to the standard homeowner scheme.

We collect information solely to show you relevant grants and contractors. We do not sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Contractor terms
Contractors listing on RetrofitReady must keep their information accurate and up to date. False SEAI registration claims will result in immediate removal. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time and take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Irish law. Any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
